Jaromír Nohavica (born June 7, 1953, Ostrava) is a Czech songwriter, lyricist, and poet. Considered one of the most important singer-songwriters in the Czech Republic, Nohavica stands out for his catchy melodies and poetic lyrics that often address social and political issues. His music, generally classified as folk rock or chanson, has been hugely successful throughout Czechoslovakia and subsequently in Central Europe.
