Brother

Brother
It's so much that I could never say to your face
But by now
You should know the world and all it's ways
So find your place

How do I find words that do not condescend
When she bore you before me
'Cause she doesn't need a child, she needs a friend
A son, not a sob story, ooh

(Now you must look out for her the way she did for you)
And your priority it must be her
(Now you must look out for her the way she did for you)
'Cause we'll never be the way we were, oh

She can't always be there just to hold you down
Our mother
When you are at an age now, where life turns around
My brother

Realize that you don't have to answer to no man
Responsibility comes down to you
But how can I expect you to understand
When you live life like you're so run through
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, hoo

(Now you must look out for her the way she did for you)
And your priority, it must be her
(Now you must look out for her the way she did for you)
'Cause we'll never be the way we were
[x2]

The way we were
We'll never be
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
And your priority,
It must be her
Ooh, ooh, hoo

Growing up in Southgate, London, Amy developed a passion for music at a young age, listening to artists like Salt-n-Pepa and Sarah Vaughan. She formed an amateur rap group called Sweet 'n' Sour at the age of ten and attended Sylvia Young Theatre School before transferring to BRIT School in Selhurst, Croydon. She began singing professionally at sixteen after her friend Tyler James sent a demo of hers to a talent scout. Her debut album, *Frank*, was released in 2003 and received critical acclaim for its jazz influences and unique voice, often compared to Sarah Vaughan and Macy Gray. The album achieved commercial success, selling over one and a half million copies and winning the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song with the single *Stronger Than Me*. Her second album, *Back to Black*, released in 2006, solidified her status as an international artist. *Rehab*, the lead single from the album, became a global hit and earned her numerous awards, including five Grammy Awards in 2008. Winehouse was an iconic figure in contemporary music, known for her powerful voice, distinctive style, and tumultuous life marked by health issues and addiction struggles. She died at the age of 27 on July 23, 2011.
