Cole Porter (1891-1964) was one of America's greatest composers of musical comedies and one of the most prolific contributors to the Great American Songbook. Born in Peru, Indiana, Porter studied music at Yale University before dedicating himself to musical composition. His most famous works include *Fifty Million Frenchmen*, *The New Yorkers*, *Anything Goes* and *Kiss Me, Kate*. He wrote songs for many films and Broadway musicals, and many of the songs that we know and love today were written by Cole Porter, including "Night And Day", "Anything Goes", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "It's De-Lovely" and "You're the Top". Porter died at the age of 73 from heart failure. He is buried in his hometown of Peru, Indiana.
