Karel Gott (born July 14, 1939) is a Czech Schlager singer, as well as an amateur painter. Gott, sometimes nicknamed "The Golden Voice of Prague", has been voted the best male singer in Czechoslovakia or the Czech Republic (The Golden/Czech Nightingale) 35 times. Considered one of the greatest musical artists of his country, Gott has sold millions of records throughout Europe. His career has spanned several eras, from the post-war period to the present day, crossing musical and social changes. Among his most famous songs are "Bumerang", "Lady Carneval" and "Malý princ". Gott has collaborated with numerous international artists, contributing to the spread of Czech music worldwide.
