Superchunk are an American indie rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Formed in 1989, the group consists of Mac McCaughan (vocals, guitar), Jim Wilbur (guitar), Laura Ballance (bass) and Jon Wurster (drums). Their sound, characterized by frenetic energy and fast riffs, draws inspiration from punk rock. Superchunk have released a dozen studio albums, including "No Pocky for Kitty" (1991), "Foolish" (1994) and "Here's to Shutting Up" (2001). Considered pioneers of American indie rock, they have influenced numerous subsequent bands. Some of their most representative songs are "Hyper Enough", "Precision Auto", and "Slack Motherfucker".
