Peter Joseph Andrew Hammill (born August 19, 1948) is a British singer-songwriter, keyboardist, and multi-instrumentalist, best known for being the frontman of Van der Graaf Generator and his prolific solo career. In 1967 he formed Van der Graaf Generator, a progressive rock band that achieved great success in the 1970s with albums such as "Pawn Hearts" (1972) and "Godbluff" (1970). After the first dissolution of Van der Graaf Generator in 1978, Hammill continued to record music under his own name, releasing over 30 albums throughout his career.
