Solefald è un gruppo musicale norvegese di avant-garde metal formatosi ad Oslo nell'agosto 1995 da Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland e Cornelius Jakhelln. Nedland si occupava di voce, tastiere, sintetizzatore e pianoforte, mentre Jakhelln suonava chitarra e basso. La band ha pubblicato sette album in studio, mescolando elementi di black metal, folk metal, progressive rock e musica classica. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da atmosfere cupe e malinconiche, melodie intricate e testi spesso ispirati alla mitologia norrena e al folklore scandinavo. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "Nordlys", "Sorgens Sang" e "The Serpent's Tongue". L'album di debutto "Blacker Than Black" (1997) ha segnato l'inizio della loro carriera, mentre "In Sorte Diaboli" (2003) è considerato uno dei loro lavori più influenti.
