Solefald is a Norwegian avant-garde metal band formed in Oslo in August 1995 by Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland and Cornelius Jakhelln. Nedland handled vocals, keyboards, synthesizers, and piano, while Jakhelln played guitar and bass. The band has released seven studio albums, blending elements of black metal, folk metal, progressive rock, and classical music. Their sound is characterized by dark and melancholic atmospheres, intricate melodies, and lyrics often inspired by Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. Notable tracks include "Nordlys", "Sorgens Sang", and "The Serpent's Tongue". Their debut album "Blacker Than Black" (1997) marked the beginning of their career, while "In Sorte Diaboli" (2003) is considered one of their most influential works. Solefald disbanded in 2014, but the band's music continues to be appreciated by fans of experimental metal.
