Kenickie sono stati una band punk di quattro elementi provenienti da Sunderland, nel Regno Unito. La formazione del gruppo risale al 1994 e comprendeva la cantante, chitarrista e autrice dei testi Lauren Laverne (nata Lauren Gofton), il batterista Johnny X (nome reale Pete Gofton, fratello di Lauren), la chitarrista solista e occasionalmente vocalist Marie du Santiago (nata Marie Nixon) e il bassista Emmy-Kate Montrose (nata Emma Jackson). Il nome del gruppo deriva dal loro personaggio preferito nel film Grease degli anni '70. Kenickie hanno raggiunto un discreto successo negli anni '90 con un sound punk rock energico e melodico, influenzato da band come The Buzzcocks e The Slits. La loro musica è caratterizzata da testi ironici e sarcastici che affrontano temi sociali e personali. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "It's Alright", "The One" e "I Don't Want to Be Your Friend".
