Antonio Marzo is a Bolognese singer-songwriter and playwright, independent and lateral, always balancing between music, writing and performing arts. His production moves on the fringes of canonical routes, with a poetics that intertwines songwriting, song theatre, irony and melancholy, without ever giving in to simplification or image forcing. After his beginnings with the prog-rock group Embargo - active in the alternative Bologna scene in the 1980s-1990s - Marzo embarks on an equally personal solo path, far from any pursuit of visibility. "Primo di Marzo" is his first solo work: a self-produced album that already reveals his oblique style, sometimes surreal, suspended between reality and imagination. In subsequent years, he alternates musical writing with theatrical writing, giving life to hybrid projects, including original shows (Mescola, Mescola, Mescola, 2018), stagings of cult texts (A piedi nudi nel parco, 2023) and song theatre performances. Among these, Storia semiseria di una rockstar mai nata — presented in Bologna in 2025 with a sold-out theatre - a scenic autobiography that crosses art and disillusionment, irony and resistance: a personal manifesto, written and performed in the first person. Meanwhile, musical production continues, with songs like "Riscaldamento" - theme song for the Salotto Mondiale broadcast on èTV and Italia1 – and "Elis", recorded at Condulmer Recording Studio and brought to the Fiuggi Song Festival. To these is added the second self-produced album, "Stomaco e Cervello", and various live collaborations, including the meeting with Francesco Baccini on the occasion of Festivalbar and Vota la Voce. His music often originates from voice and guitar, then enriched by refined arrangements and textual visions that oscillate between autobiographical narrative and observation of reality. Among the declared references: Alan Sorrenti, Pink Floyd and the Italian songwriting school. In 2025 he returns to the studio for the realization of "Oltremarzo", a new musical project that marks the beginning of a more mature, clearer, more essential phase. The songs do not chase trends or styles, but dig into the cracks of the present to return an honest, fragile, living echo. "Com'è lucida la città" - first extract from the album - is a civil ballad written in the rain, among the cobblestones of Bologna and the questions left hanging by an Italy that is changing. Parallel to his artistic activity, Antonio is also an entrepreneur in the IT sector: he founded and directs a Bolognese company active in the development of innovative technological solutions. Another form of design, which runs parallel but not in conflict with his artistic vision.
