Eddie Floyd (born Edward Lee Floyd on May 9, 1937) is an American soul and R and B singer, songwriter, and composer. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Floyd began his musical career in the 1950s as a member of the group The Esquires. In 1960, he moved to New York City to pursue a solo career. Throughout the 1960s, Floyd collaborated with several prominent producers and artists, including Stax Records and Booker T. and the M.G.'s.
