Emperor is a legendary Norwegian black metal band, active from 1991 to 2001 and again since 2014. Considered one of the most influential bands in the genre, Emperor helped define the aesthetics and sound of symphonic black metal with a melodic and atmospheric approach. The group consists of Ihsahn (vocals, guitar) and Samoth (guitar), who have collaborated with other musicians such as Trym (drums) and Mortiis (keyboards).
