Jermaine Dupri Mauldin, known simply as Jermaine Dupri, is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur born in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 23, 1972. Considered one of the most influential producers of the 1990s and the new millennium, Dupri helped define the sonic aesthetic of contemporary hip hop with a sound characterized by catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and funky samples. He has collaborated with prominent artists such as Mariah Carey, Usher, Janet Jackson, Lil Jon, and Ludacris, helping launch the careers of many emerging rappers through his record label So So Def Recordings. Among his most notable successes are "Welcome to Atlanta", "Money Ain't a Thang" (with Jay-Z) and "I Believe I Can Fly" (performed by R. Kelly). Dupri has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for his production on "The Boy Is Mine" by Brandy and Monica. In addition to music, Dupri is also a successful entrepreneur with interests in various businesses, including a clothing line and a film production company.
