Finntroll è una band finlandese di extreme metal e folk metal proveniente da Helsinki. Il loro stile musicale fonde elementi di black metal, death metal e folk metal con un tipo di musica popolare finlandese chiamato humppa. I testi di Finntroll sono principalmente in svedese, con l'eccezione della canzone "Madon Laulu" presente nell'album "Visor Om Slutet". Il primo cantante Katla ha scelto lo svedese rispetto al finlandese perché faceva parte di una minoranza di madrelingua svedese in Finlandia e il suono della lingua sembrava più adatto all'immagine "trollesca" del gruppo. Nonostante diversi cambi di vocalist, questa tradizione è continuata fino ad oggi. Finntroll è considerata una delle band folk metal più influenti, con un sound unico che fonde aggressività musicale con melodie tradizionali finlandesi. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "Jaktens Tid", "Blodsvept" e "Trollhammaren".
