Shakatak is a British jazz-funk band formed in 1980. The group achieved international success in the 1980s and 1990s with tracks like "Down to the River" and "Night Bird". The original lineup included Bill Sharpe (keyboards), George Chandler (bass), Roger Ball (drums) and vocalist Lorraine McIntosh, whose contributions helped define Shakatak's distinctive vocal style. The band is known for its use of synthesizers, funky rhythms and jazz melodies, creating a sophisticated and elegant sound.
