Eleven

I follow
head over heels
taunting me like a messiah
says, "do you believe in me?"

i see you
call out for me
the line between Truth and Desire
crumbles so easily
i count the seconds
and the minutes seem like hours to me
i count to seven
and the heat turns up another degree
i count eLeVeN for the
reasons why it happened to me so easily
i count eLeVeN
eLeVeN

"free me", she says, "heal me"
eLeVeN
i count eLeVeN when
you offer me the length of your hand
i count eLeVeN when you
caution me to strengthen my stand
i count eLeVeN when you
say that you're an innocent man--
oh spare me--baby--spare me
ah did you ever
stop to think about the need of a friend
and go easy on me, easy?!
i count eLeVeN when
my patience hits a quarter to three
i count eLeVeN
in the name of what's important to me
i count eLeVeN
strikes for you, for not believing in me
there ain't no heaven
when a promise doesn't mean anything
if all's forgiven
i count eLeVeN--
i count eLeVeN

don't save my soul
don't raise my hope
then take it away
don't make me whole
don't saveth my soul
just let me go
to rise up from the sleep i'm deep in
to walk out from
the dream i breathed in....home....home

one....two the colour of blue
lightening strikes in a moment of truth
three....four the night that i swore
i got nothing to prove -- you got nothin--no more
and if all's forgiven i count eLeVeN

thou shall not take a woman in vain
thou shall not take another woman
thou shall not put a promise to shame
thou shall not make a fool of no one
i count eLeVeN
thou shall not take a woman in vain
thou shall not take another woman
thou shall not shape a man into clay
thou shall not go on unforgiven
(i gotta count)
one....two the colour of blue
lightening strikes in a moment of truth
(and then i go)
three....four the night that i swore
i got nothing to prove -- you got nothin no more
six....seven is almost eLeVeN
you broke a word not easily given
eLeVeN
all's forgiven when i count eLeVeN
