Barry McGuire (born October 15, 1935) is an American singer-songwriter best known for the hit song "Eve of Destruction", and later as a singer and songwriter of Contemporary Christian Music. Born in Los Angeles, California, McGuire began his musical career in the 1960s with a folk-rock sound influenced by the pacifist movement of the time. His most famous song, "Eve of Destruction", released in 1965, became an anthem against the Vietnam War and reached number one on the American charts. After the success of "Eve of Destruction", McGuire continued to release albums with various musical genres, including folk, rock, and country.
