Exumer is a German death metal band formed in 1984 in Dortmund. Considered one of the pioneering bands of the genre, they helped define the classic death metal sound with influences from thrash and black metal. In 1987 they released their first studio album, *Rising From the Sea*, which cemented their position in the European metal scene.
