Nathaniel Adams Coles, meglio conosciuto come Nat King Cole (Montgomery, 17 marzo 1919 – Santa Monica, 15 febbraio 1965), è stato un cantante, pianista e attore statunitense considerato uno dei crooner più importanti di tutti i tempi. Cole ha dominato la scena musicale americana negli anni '40 e '50 con una voce calda e melodiosa, accompagnata da arrangiamenti jazz raffinati. Iniziò la sua carriera come pianista in locali notturni di Chicago, per poi formare il suo gruppo, i "King Cole Trio". Il trio ottenne un grande successo con brani come "Straighten Up and Fly Right" e "The Christmas Song", che divennero classici intramontabili. Nel 1948, Cole firmò un contratto discografico con Capitol Records, iniziando una collaborazione prolifica che lo portò a incidere alcuni degli album più venduti di tutti i tempi. Tra le sue canzoni più famose ricordiamo "Mona Lisa", "Unforgettable" e "When I Fall in Love". Oltre alla musica, Cole si distinse anche come attore cinematografico, partecipando a film come "St. Louis Blues" (1958) e "The Nat King Cole Show" (1956-1957). Cole fu un pioniere nella lotta per i diritti civili, diventando uno degli artisti afroamericani più popolari e influenti del suo tempo. La sua musica continua ad essere apprezzata in tutto il mondo.
