Midnight Oil is an Australian rock band from Sydney, active from 1972 to 2007. The original lineup included Rob Hirst (drums), Andrew James (bass) and Jim Moginie (keyboards/guitar). The band's name changed from Farm to Midnight Oil in 1973 with the addition of Peter Garrett (vocals) and Martin Rotsey (guitar). Known for their energetic rock sound, engaging live performances, and politically and environmentally conscious lyrics, they became one of Australia's most important bands.
