Richard Samet Friedman, better known as Kinky Friedman, was an American singer-songwriter, author, journalist, and politician. Born in New York in 1944, Friedman spent his childhood in Texas, where he developed a passion for country and western music. He began his musical career in the 1960s, releasing successful albums such as "Sold Out" (1972) and "The Kinky Friedman Album" (1973).
