Saikano (???????, Kanojo Saikano), often shortened to "Saikano", is a manga written and illustrated by Shin Takahashi. Published in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine from December 1999 to October 2001, the manga tells the love story between Chise Hatori, an ordinary girl, and Shuuji Kazama, a boy who falls in love with her despite her military background. The plot evolves when Chise is chosen as the subject of a secret experiment that transforms her into a lethal weapon called "Saikano". The manga explores complex themes such as love, war, violence, and sacrifice, offering a profound reflection on human nature and the consequences of choices. Saikano was adapted into a 13-episode anime in 2002, which further contributed to the manga's popularity.
