Harry James (1906-1983) was an acclaimed American trumpeter and leader of jazz big bands. Born in Bellevue, Ohio, James began his musical career playing in local orchestras before entering the world of jazz in the 1930s. In 1935, he joined Ben Bernie's band, where he showcased his talent and improvisational skills. In 1937, he formed his own band, which quickly became one of the most popular in the United States. James' music was characterized by brilliant arrangements, catchy melodies, and infectious energy. Among his most famous songs are "You Made Me Love You", "Two O'Clock Jump" and "Ciribiribin". James collaborated with numerous important artists, including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald. His influence on jazz has been significant, contributing to defining the big band style in the 1940s and 1950s.
