Max Raabe (born Maximilian Raabe on March 10, 1964, in Berlin) is a German singer of international fame, known for his elegant and refined interpretation of music from the period between the two World Wars. Founder and leader of the Palast Orchester, a musical ensemble that recreates the sparkling atmosphere of German variety theaters of the 1920s and 1930s, Raabe has rediscovered and popularized a genre often forgotten, captivating audiences with his velvety voice and theatrical performances. His vocal style is characterized by great expressiveness and impeccable technique, capable of evoking the nostalgic and romantic atmosphere of the golden age of German cabaret. Besides original songs, Raabe also performs classics of German light music such as "Komm Süßer Tod", "Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß verliebt" and "Das ist die Liebe". The Palast Orchester has collaborated with numerous international artists, including Ute Lemper and Robbie Williams.
