Tara MacLean (born Tara Margaret Charity MacLean on October 25, 1973 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She was discovered by two Nettwerk employees on the top deck of one of the Gulf Islands ferries singing with some friends. Her music is characterized by a folk-pop sound with indie and rock influences. In 1998 she released her debut album, *The Beautiful Game*, which was successful in Canada. Among her most well-known songs are "Holding On", "You're Not Alone" and "I Will Be There". MacLean is known for her energetic and engaging live performances.
