Marisa de Azevedo Monte, known simply as Marisa Monte, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and record producer born in Rio de Janeiro in 1967. Her career began in the 1980s as a member of the Banda do Mar group, before launching a brilliant solo career starting in 1990.
