Biografia

Alan Jay Lerner (August 31, 1918 – June 14, 1986) was an American lyricist and librettist. Collaborating with Frederick Loewe, he created some of the world's most popular and enduring works of musical theatre for both the stage and on film. He won three Tony Awards and three Academy Awards, among other honors. Lerner was born in New York City to a Jewish family. After studying at Harvard University, he began his career as a journalist and writer of theatrical screenplays. In 1943, he met Loewe and together they forged a successful artistic partnership that produced masterpieces such as *Brigadoon*, *My Fair Lady* and *Camelot*. Their works are characterized by memorable melodies, poetic lyrics and romantic and adventurous stories. Lerner was also a prolific screenwriter for film, writing screenplays and librettos for musicals like *Gigi* (1958) and *Paint Your Wagon* (1965). His work has left an indelible mark on the world of musical theatre, inspiring generations of artists and enthusiasts.
