Kisses sweeter than wine

There once was a young man who'd never been kissedHe's got to thinkin' it over how much Ihe had missed
So he got me a girl and he kissed her and then, and then
Oh, lord, well he kissed 'er again CHORUSBecause she had kisses sweeter than wine
She had, mmm, mmm, kisses sweeter than wine Well he asked her to marry and to be his good wife
He told her we'd be so happy for the rest of his life
He begged and he pleaded like a natural man
And then, whoops oh lord, well she gave him her hand CHORUS Well we worked very hard both me and my wifeWorkin' hand-in-hand to have a good life
We had corn in the field and wheat in the bin
And then, whoops oh lord, I was the father of twins CHORUS Well their children they numbered just about four
And they all had a sweetheart a'knockin' on the door
They all got married and they wouldn't hesitate
He was, whoops oh lord, the grandfather of eight CHORUS Well now that he's old and he's already to go
He get to thinkin' what happened a long time ago
Had a lot of kids, a lot of trouble and pain
But then, whoops oh lord, well he'd do it all again Because she had kisses sweeter than wine
She had, mmm?kisses'sweeter'than?wine

Biografia

Marlene Dietrich (Berlin, December 27, 1901 – Paris, May 6, 1992) was a celebrated German-American actress and singer. Considered an icon of Hollywood cinema in the 1930s and 1940s, her career spanned over half a century, encompassing theater, cabaret, and music. Dietrich began as a stage actress in Berlin before moving to the United States in 1930. Her international success came with the film *The Blue Angel* (1930), which earned her a contract with Paramount Pictures. Her magnetic beauty, sensual voice, and charismatic personality made her a global star. During World War II, Dietrich openly sided against Nazism, refusing to return to Germany and dedicating herself to anti-Nazi propaganda for the United States. This commitment cost her the hostility of the German regime, which declared her persona non grata. After the war, she continued to act and sing until the 1980s, becoming a symbol of freedom and resistance. Among her most famous films are *Shanghai Express* (1932), *Blonde Venus* (1932), and *Destry Rides Again* (1939). Dietrich was a controversial and complex figure, but her talent and personality left an indelible mark on the history of cinema and music.
