Gordon Meredith Lightfoot, Jr. (1938-2023) was a Canadian singer-songwriter considered one of the pillars of his country's folk and country music. Born in Orillia, Ontario, Lightfoot began his musical career in the 1960s, quickly gaining a reputation for his evocative melodies and poetic lyrics that often explored themes of history, nature, and everyday life in Canada. Among his most famous songs are "If You Could Read My Mind", "Sundown" and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".
