Carlos Alberto Vives Restrepo, born in Santa Marta, Colombia, on August 3, 1957, is a Colombian singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and actor. Considered one of the most important Latin American music artists of contemporary times, Vives has managed to blend traditional Colombian musical genres like cumbia and vallenato with pop and rock influences. Vives won a Grammy Award in 2009 for the album "El Rock de mi Pueblo" and three Latin Grammy Awards. Besides music, Vives has also ventured into acting roles in Colombian films and television series.
