{Refrain1:}
On ne sait où il habite
On l'appelle "La Marmite".
Ce n'est pas un apprenti mitron
C'est un joyeux vagabond.
En attendant qu'on lui serve
Dans sa boîte de conserve
Un peu plus que son pain quotidien
"La Marmite" va et vient
{couplet}
Tout tranquille
Par la ville
Il s'en va cueillir les restes d'un repas.
Et bien vite
"La Marmite"
Près du feu, qui lui réchauffe un plat de roi,
Quand midi sonne,
Oublie les hommes
Oublie la vie dans une samba frénétique.
{Refrain 2:}
Et revoilà "La Marmite"
Gonflé à la dynamite
Le voilà qui revient en frappant
Sur sa boîte de fer blanc.
Et l'après-midi entière,
Agrippé à la portière
Des tramways qu'il attrape en chemin
"La Marmite" va et vient.
{Coda}
On ne sait où il habite
On l'appelle "La Marmite".
Ce n'est pas un apprenti mitron
C'est un joyeux vagabond.
C'est un joyeux vagabond.
C'est un joyeux vagabond.
