Claude Nougaro (September 9, 1929 – March 4, 2004) was a French songwriter and singer, considered one of the most important figures in French chanson of the 20th century. Born in Toulouse, France, Nougaro began his career as a jazz musician in the 1950s, collaborating with international artists such as Miles Davis and Chet Baker. Throughout the 1960s, he established himself as a songwriter, composing poetic lyrics and original melodies that captivated the French audience.
