Carlos Alberto Vives Restrepo, born in Santa Marta, Colombia, on August 3, 1957, is a Colombian singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and actor. Considered one of the most important Latin American music artists of contemporary times, Vives has managed to blend traditional Colombian musical genres like cumbia and vallenato with pop and rock influences.
