Michael Franti is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and record producer born on April 21, 1966. Of African, Native American, Irish, French, and German descent, Franti is known for his music that blends elements of hip hop, reggae, rock, and folk. He began his career in the 1980s with the group The Beatnigs, then formed Spearhead in 1994. With Spearhead, he has released numerous successful albums, including "Stay Human" (2006), "All People" (2009) and "The Sound of Sunshine" (2018). His songs are characterized by politically and socially conscious lyrics that promote peace, equality, and social justice. Franti is also an activist involved in various humanitarian causes.
