Hem is an indie folk-rock band from New York City. The group consists of Sally Ellyson (vocals), Dan Messe (piano, accordion, glockenspiel), Gary Maurer (guitar, mandolin), Steve Curtis (guitar, mandolin, banjo, backing vocals), George Rush (bass guitar), Mark Brotter (drums), Bob Hoffnar (pedal steel guitar) and Heather Zimmerman (violin). Hem is known for its folk-rock sound characterized by catchy melodies and introspective lyrics. The band has released several successful albums, including "The World Is a Beautiful Place" (2006) and "In the Wake of Our Dreams" (2010).
