Domenico Modugno (Puglia, 9 gennaio 1928 – Roma, 18 settembre 1994) è stato un cantautore, musicista e attore italiano. Considerato uno dei più grandi artisti italiani del XX secolo, ha raggiunto fama internazionale con il brano "Volare", vincitore del Grammy Award nel 1959. Modugno si distinse per la sua voce potente e melodica, le sue canzoni innovative che mescolavano elementi di musica popolare italiana, jazz e chanson francese, e la sua personalità carismatica. Oltre a "Volare", tra i suoi successi più noti figurano "Nel blu dipinto di blu", "Piove (Ciao, ciao)“, “L’uomo libero” e “Estate”. Modugno ha collaborato con importanti compositori come Franco Migliacci e musicisti come il chitarrista Bruno Martino. Ha recitato in diversi film, tra cui "I soliti ignoti" di Mario Monicelli.
