Biografia

Joan Manuel Serrat i Teresa (Barcelona, 1943) is one of the most beloved and influential Spanish singer-songwriters of all time. His music, characterized by catchy melodies and poetic lyrics that address social and political themes, has captivated generations of listeners in Spain and around the world. Serrat began his career in the 1960s, participating in musical festivals and releasing his first albums. His international success came with the album "La Banda del Capitán", released in 1971. Among his most famous songs are "Mediterráneo", "A la orilla del mar", "El niño y el río" and "Tinta y tiempo". Serrat was a symbol of resistance during the Franco dictatorship, using his music to express the desire for freedom and social justice. After living in exile in London in the 1970s, he returned to Spain in 1980, continuing to record albums and perform sold-out concerts. Throughout his long career, Serrat has won numerous awards, including the Príncipe de Asturias Award for the Arts in 2004. His music continues to be listened to and appreciated worldwide.
