Monster mash

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from the slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

(He did the mash) They did the monster mash
(The monster mash) It was a graveyard smash
(They did the mash) It caught on in a flash
(They did the mash) They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolfman
Dracula and his son

The scene was rocking and all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains backed by his baying hounds
The Coffin Bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group The Cryptkickers Five

(They played the mash) They did my monster mash
(The monster mash) Arrgh, it was a graveyard smash
(They played the mash) It caught on in a flash
(They played the mash) They did the monster mash

Out from his coffin Drac's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and he shook his fist and said
Whatever happened to my Transylvania Twistà

(It's now the mash) It's now the monster mash
(The monster mash) Arrgh, it's a graveyard smash
(It's now the mash) Mmm, you'll catch on in a flash
(It's now the mash) They did my monster mash

Now everything's cool, Drac's part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, the mash was meant too
When you get to my door tell them Boris sent you

(Then you can mash) To do the monster mash
(The monster mash) Arrgh, it's a graveyard smash
(Then you can mash) Ah, you'll catch on in a flash
(Then you can mash) Arrgh, do my monster mash
Arrgh, that's, arrgh, good, easy you all
Impetuous young boy

Biografia

Sha Na Na is an American musical group formed in New York City in the 1960s. Known for their theatrical performances and interpretations of rock and roll songs from the 1950s and 1960s, the group's name derives from a series of nonsense syllables present in the doo-wop song "Get a Job", originally recorded in 1957 by The Silhouettes. The group achieved national fame through their appearance on the television program "Sha Na Na" (1977-1981), which established them as an icon of the rock and roll revival. Among Sha Na Na's most representative songs are "Rock 'n' Roll Is Here to Stay", "Teen Angel", and "A Teenager in Love". The group has collaborated with artists such as The Beach Boys, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry, contributing to keeping the memory of classic rock and roll alive.
