Il nucleo originario del gruppo si costituì quando Bob Nanna, già noto per il suo lavoro con i Bob Nanna, inserì un annuncio su Maximum Rock n' Roll. L'annuncio fu risposto da Roy Ewing, batterista che portò con sé altri musicisti provenienti da band o progetti precedenti, tra cui Todd Bell al basso e Chris Broach alla chitarra e voce.
