The Stranglers are a British rock band formed in Guildford in 1974. Their sound, initially defined as punk rock, has evolved to incorporate influences from post-punk, new wave and progressive rock, creating a unique and recognizable sonic identity. The founding members were Hugh Cornwell (guitar, vocals), Jet Black (drums), Jean-Jacques Burnel (bass) and Hans Warmling (keyboards, guitar).
