(Dr. Richard Peddicord)
Billy Joe went lookin' round
One yellow summer day
To see if he could find some grass
To help him on his way
But everywhere that Billy went
They said the town was dry
So he got to talkin' round
And ask the reason why.
Oh! pleasant hope
He asked the reason why
Oh! pleasant hope
When we're gonna get our dope!
Oh! pleasant hope
Won't you help him on his way
Oh! pleasant hope
Won't you help him on his way.
They said they're burning farmers now
Long live Mexico!
For some uncertain reason now
Just won't let grass grow
All we have to do is wait some more
And bide our time
And pretty soon the times will change
And grass will flow like wine.
Oh! pleasant hope
Grass will flow like wine
Oh! pleasant hope
Grass will flow like wine
Oh! pleasant hope
Grass will flow like wine
Oh! pleasant hope
Grass will flow like wine!
Blue Cheer was an American psychedelic blues-rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with sporadic activity until 2009. Based in San Francisco, they are considered pioneers of heavy metal, thanks to their cover of «Summertime Blues», often cited as the first heavy metal song. The band's name derives from a brand of LSD, and they were promoted by chemist Owsley Stanley, known for his work with the Grateful Dead. Jim Morrison of The Doors called them «the single most powerful band I've ever seen». Besides heavy metal, Blue Cheer influenced genres like punk rock, stoner rock, doom metal, experimental rock, and grunge. Some of their most representative songs include: «Summertime Blues», «Vincebus Eruptum» and «Out of Focus».
