Steve Hackett (born Stephen Richard Hackett on October 12, 1951) is a British guitarist, singer, and composer widely recognized as one of the leading figures in progressive rock. Starting to play guitar at the age of seven, he gained recognition for his technical and melodic prowess. In 1971, he joined Genesis, replacing Anthony Phillips, contributing to the band's sound with a more instrumental and virtuosic approach. With Genesis, he recorded eight highly successful albums, including "Selling England by the Pound", "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", and "A Trick of the Tail". In 1977, following creative differences, Hackett left Genesis to pursue a solo career. His solo music is characterized by a fusion approach that blends elements of progressive rock, jazz, world music, and classical. Among his most notable albums are "Spectral Mornings", "Voyage of the Acolyte", and "Defector". Hackett continues to record and perform worldwide, maintaining a loyal fanbase thanks to his impeccable guitar technique and ability to create evocative atmospheres. Some of his most representative tracks include: "Every Day", "Narnia", "Clocks - The Angel of Mons".
