Carlos Alberto Vives Restrepo, nato a Santa Marta, Colombia, il 3 agosto 1957, è un cantautore, chitarrista, pianista e attore colombiano. Considerato uno dei più importanti artisti della musica latinoamericana contemporanea, Vives ha saputo coniugare tradizioni musicali colombiane come la cumbia e il vallenato con influenze pop e rock. La sua carriera musicale è iniziata negli anni '80 con l'esibizione in gruppi di musica popolare colombiana. Nel 1986 ha debuttato come solista con l'album "Cumbia y Son", che lo ha lanciato sulla scena nazionale. Nel corso degli anni, Vives ha pubblicato numerosi album di successo, tra cui "Clásicos de la Provincia" (1997), "La Tierra del Olvido" (2003) e "El Rock de mi Pueblo" (2006). I suoi brani più famosi includono "Fruta Fresca", "La Gota Fría", "Cumbia sobre el Río" e "Volví a nacer". Vives ha vinto un Grammy Award nel 2009 per l'album "El Rock de mi Pueblo" e tre Latin Grammy Award. Oltre alla musica, Vives si è cimentato anche in ruoli di attore in film e serie televisive colombiane.
