Coil è stato un gruppo musicale sperimentale inglese attivo dal 1982 al 2004. Fondato da John Balance (conosciuto anche come Jhonn Balance) e Peter Christopherson (Sleazy), il duo ha esplorato generi musicali diversi, tra cui industrial, ambient, noise e musica elettronica. Il nome Coil deriva dalla forma a spirale presente in natura, un elemento che per Balance rappresentava l'universalità e la pervasiveness del suono. Coil è considerato uno dei gruppi industriali più influenti di sempre, noto per le sue atmosfere dark, sperimentali e spesso inquietanti. Le loro opere sono caratterizzate da una complessa combinazione di suoni elettronici, campionamenti, voci gutturali e testi che esplorano temi come la spiritualità, il misticismo, la sessualità e la morte.
