Johnny Van Zant, born John Roy Van Zant on August 10, 1957, in Jacksonville, Florida, is an American singer and musician. He is best known as the frontman of the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, succeeding his brother Ronnie after his tragic death in 1977. Johnny has helped keep the band's legacy alive, releasing numerous successful albums and taking their distinctive Southern Rock sound around the world.
