Glenn Frey (Detroit, November 6, 1948 – New York, January 18, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer, best known as the co-founder and lead member of the rock band Eagles. Frey began his musical career in the 1960s with several local bands before joining Don Henley to form the Eagles in 1971. The group achieved international success in the 1970s with albums such as "Hotel California" (1976) and "Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)" (1976), selling over 200 million records worldwide. Frey was a prolific songwriter, penning some of the Eagles' most iconic songs like "Take It Easy", "Desperado", and "Hotel California". Besides his career with the Eagles, Frey also pursued a successful solo career, releasing several hit albums in the 1980s and 1990s. Among his solo hits are "The Heat Is On" (1985) and "You Belong to the City" (1984). Frey was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 as a member of the Eagles.
