Caetano Veloso (Salvador, 7 aprile 1942) è uno dei cantautori più influenti del Brasile. Figlio di una famiglia borghese, si avvicina alla musica fin da giovane, appassionandosi al bossa nova e al rock. Negli anni '60, a Rio de Janeiro, diventa parte del movimento Tropicália, un'esplosione culturale che mescolava elementi tradizionali brasiliani con influenze internazionali come il pop, il psichedelico e il jazz. Caetano Veloso è noto per le sue melodie innovative, i testi poetici e la sua voce distintiva. Œuvre fondamentale del movimento Tropicália, Caetano ha collaborato con artisti come Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé e Gal Costa. Nel 1968, a seguito della censura militare in Brasile, viene esiliato in Londra. Dopo il ritorno in patria, continua a produrre musica di grande successo, esplorando nuovi generi musicali come la world music e l'elettronica. Tra i suoi brani più famosi figurano "Alegria, Alegria", "Sozinho", "Sampa" e "O Leãozinho". Caetano Veloso è considerato un'icona culturale brasiliana, il cui impatto sulla musica e la società del suo paese rimane profondo.
