Boards of Canada è un duo musicale scozzese formato dai fratelli Mike Sandison e Marcus Eoin nel 1987. Inizialmente hanno pubblicato EP e album su cassette in tirature limitate, ora disconosciuti dalla band stessa. Il loro primo lavoro disponibile è l'EP *Twoism* del 1995, ripubblicato nel 2002 da Warp Records dopo essere stato inviato a Skam Records, che li ha firmati e pubblicato un altro EP. Nel 1998 hanno raggiunto il successo con l'album *Music Has the Right to Children*, considerato un capolavoro dell'ambient IDM. L'album ha riscosso grande successo di critica e ha reso i Boards of Canada celebri nel mondo della musica elettronica, anche se raramente rilasciano interviste o si esibiscono dal vivo.
