Pavement is an American indie rock band formed in Stockton, California, in 1989. Considered one of the most influential bands of the 1990s indie rock movement, Pavement gained a large fanbase thanks to their sound characterized by melodic riffs, ironic and experimental lyrics, and a relaxed and carefree atmosphere. The group consists of Stephen Malkmus (vocals, guitar), Scott Kannberg (guitar), Mark Ibold (bass), Bob Nastanovich (percussion) and Gary Young (drums).
