The Notting Hillbillies are a British musical group formed in 1980 by Mark Knopfler (known for being the guitarist and singer of Dire Straits), Guy Fletcher and Brendan Croker. Their musical style is classified as alternative country, with influences from folk and rockabilly. The name of the group is an homage to the Notting Hill district of London, where they recorded most of their music. The band released a single studio album, "Missing Presumed Having Good Time", in 1980. The album was moderately successful and contains tracks like "The Ballad of the Notorious B.I.G.", "Don't Let Me Down" and "This Is The Life". After the release of the album, the group disbanded, but its members continued to collaborate on various musical projects.
