Sparklehorse was an American musical project founded in the mid-1990s by Mark Linkous, a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Virginia. Although often referred to as a band, Sparklehorse was primarily a solo effort of Linkous, who wrote, produced, and performed most of the songs. Sparklehorse's sound was characterized by an introspective and melancholic atmosphere, blending elements of folk, alternative rock, country, and psychedelia.
